Breath of Fire

This week in my yoga for kids class we were practicing the “breath of fire” or sometimes it is called the “dragon breath”. Here are the steps:

1) sit in a comfortable position, cris cross works!
2) take a deep breath into your belly
3) push the breath out by pulling your abdominal muscles into your spine, making exhales small, short, quick and rhythmical

Children love breathing this way! There are many benefits of this pranayama practice, including but not limited to:

a) body warm up
b) stress relief
c) release of toxins
d) toning of abdominal muscles
e) fun!
